Skyrim

27/04/2023

Streaming my Playthrough

For the past couple weeks I have been playing Skyrim and streaming it on youtube. The Elder Scrolls universe is one of my favorite fictional universes and I have over 800 hours played in Skyrim, but I had never actually beat the game. My goal with this stream was to beat the game (I mean finish the main story line by beat the game). I always got distracted by mods and side quests, so I never finished the main questline. Finishing the game has been pretty fulfilling to me. I have often had a secret guilt about not beating the game. It made me feel like a fake fan/gamer, so It feels pretty freeing to have finally actually finished the game.

Finishing Games

When I was beating Skyrim I realized that I had never beaten a video game before. I was really suprised by my little revelation. I have been playing video games for a pretty long time and have often described myself as a gamer, so it was pretty shocking to me. I have often felt a bit of guilt like I described above when I would talk about games I loved, but in the back of my head I knew I had never beaten the game. Skyrim is now the first game I have beaten and that feels pretty fulfilling. I now want to start beating others games that I love. The next game I'm going to be playing is Pokemon Platinum and I'm looking forward to beating it. If you ever felt any similar guilt I would recommend just going for it and trying to beat it and ignore distractions like side quests and mods.
