If you read the title, you might think that I will tell you a story about how I got rid of all my social media and became a happy person.
And this did certainly happen: there are more important things in the world than likes or followers, and social media just takes your time away from more important things, like learning new things, meeting with friends, etc.
But even after leaving social media, it never leaves your mind until you realize a few things.
Social media is bad for you for a number of reasons.
At the end of the day, you have accomplished absolutely nothing, other than posting stupid useless selfies or wasting your time on tiktok.
When you are laying on your deathbed, you won't be proud that you spent all those hours mindlessly scrolling through TikTok, just because "you were bored".
But, even after I deleted social media, I was still annoyed by it, but for another reason.
A few days ago, a woman that was visiting Auschwitz decided it was a great time to have a picture of herself be taken on the rails where millions of people were driven to their death.
Obviously, I was pretty angered by it, but I have come to the realization that it doesn't really matter.
In the end all that happened was that my mood was ruined. I was enraged, annoyed and negative for the entire rest of the day.
There are always stupid people in the world, especially narcissists on social media, and being annoyed about it never helped anyone.
Focusing on stupid people like this will always annoy you and you will never be able to do anything else.
This shows that even after quitting social media, it follows you around like a plague.
Do useful things instead! Negativity like this can end up in a vicious cycle.
Try to think about what you accomplished, while other people were probably not learning, doing, making or thinking anything at all in that same time.
Reminding myself about this simple fact kept me motivated.
