Donald P. Goodman III
Version 1.0 (23 December 1201)
When sun has travell'd south as far as it can go,
and night has wax'd until it dominates the day,
and moon has swollen round and hangs all red and low,
its fullest time along its long-appointed way;
a woman, full and swollen, moves beneath the moon,
upon as ass, led by a man through desert night;
she knows her time is coming, and is coming soon,
is coming ere the rising of the early light.
A bird can't lay the egg which hatch'd it, nor can child
give birth to her own father, never mind her might;
but this young woman, full with time and mercy mild,
bears her creator as she treks across the wild.
