we limit our giving to event-driven
funerals, marriages, moving day
on each, a casserole, cooked with
love, confusion, rage, dismay
tailoring homogeneous soups
to each day
until peak culinary emotion is reached
acetic acid, chicken nuggets, and lanolin
baking off oven fireworks in retribution
