Old Ghosts Inscribing

showing tracks within
one city has a law, still on the books
three hundred years after its empire fell
fortune and food must never combine
some army mustering, fortified on sweet noodles
each with the same fortune, each soldier
lasting just a little beyond that meal
and no further
words in the old tongue spun
text cookies aren ��t malarkey if the teller is true
but teller as lever will trouble and glue
every angle and pattern served up as stew
sun shining down on that marvelous kitchen
it ��s hard to be wrong if your poison is honey
just this far

how the true ones were simply in their cloisters
moving transitory graves by degrees of clarity
jostling each other ��s hands in that culled language
each grip upon their spear anonymous and clever
devils in delicate passant until sinecure mar
