suddenly sitting up in their places at the game
or dropping a fork at dinner
aiming excited looks at the door
big dumb dog hitting alert
that well-waxed state between
gonna eat it and gonna lick it
humans jumping up
yelling on repeat

captain of the stupid ship leading the drift
happy barks going sequentially more crazed
pink-light in the eyes saying the litter-mates
they ��ve somehow gone and done it
made a deal, done a steal, let a squeal
something other where they ��ve been
suffering guest-right ��s uptight flight
her majesty ��s grand durak on the rocks
cargo shifting, lifting
water not made for drinking
pausing in joy �� pausing in panic
pausing in joy �� fleeing directly into the fridge
written in as daft lunk ��s thunk
no proper welcome, no sweet honey
no milk-sopped bread
dragging food bowl, howling
begging treats they won ��t eat
