Trigger Mechanism

the placard in the boiler room
reads spare fish furnace
with no further explanation
mounted on the wall below
a hardwired singing fish
has been set to audio trigger
reading the words aloud
triggers the fish
which wiggles
flipping the switch
hidden by its tail
turning out the light
in darkness
smokey glow
reflects off brick scales
voiceless haunting melody
repressed fire chamber roar
puzzle forever unanswered
