How The Same Half Lives

this body of mine doesn ��t bend the way I want it to
hot in winter, cold in summer, I feel I ��ve been betrayed
about once a month, maybe less, some nightmarish kludge
reveals itself, unexpected joint-lock, unidentifiable
some fluttering memory suggesting that bendy structure
just fabricated itself from spring ��s alternate timeline
the sorts of scents you ��d expect from a washing machine
long disused in the back of an abandoned discotech
overwhelming in some otherland break-space rendition
waking some mornings in dumpsters, clearly discarded
magic marker on forehead in swirls and sigils
downtempo drone covering for those moments
where if you wear a trash bag home, no-one even looks
ringing the doorbell for thirty minutes of retinal scan denied
before breaking into the back side of the garage
out of camera range, but positively rolling in poison ivy
dreaming of finding one ��s self yet again still in bed
wrapped up in finest duckling down, two small holes
right in the back of the head, an executive repetition
struggling vicariously through shower coffee
slowly reconnecting while wrapping mostly clean bedding
shouldering myself back out to the garage sewer access
six miles down the stink-pipe strangely not as bad
as whatever was in that dumpster, thankful again
that I remembered to grab the special soap for oil
kipping everything into the central sewer macerator
six miles back up to hose and plastic footie-bags
another round of shower coffee, almost proper awake
checking schedule that yep, I ��d signed myself out
still running hot and cold, but flexibility coming back
recomposing myself from thankfully detailed notes
motes of bright-spot in the eyes, paler grey than last go
but scanner finally accepting presence, clamoring
cameras still off inside, save thirty percent on contract
if I ��d just permit that one extra-personal visitation
