Sifting Towards Self

afar, beyond some paper grey heat
grumbles cross the sky, echoes in the low hills
building slowly, passing in attrition
a memory of that caterpillar song
where one ��s patience and toxicity
prevents all but the stupidest of birds
from consuming those who take their time
leaf after leaf, until driven to build their own harbor
they pass both entropy and storm
in decaying memory, a chemical soup
sequestered in armor, complex in labor
oscillating to that quietest of internal thunder
ignoring that endless spoken falsity
that wings beget wonder
where wonder has always been
in every form, in every shift
