in the dyer ��s district
it ��s the scent of mordants
often backed against tanneries
vats one could drown a village in
spread vast below rack upon rack
bracketing colorfastness
one mad soul always chanting
petitioning the gods for entertainment
or offering it, it ��s hard to tell
forever in the tans and earths
of colorslow
that most immortal lasting
spilling clear and slow
touching those who ��d know its poison
with every wavelength sewn
