when the construction proposal went out
we made sure to include proper detail
a puppy pen with easily cleanable surfaces
closeable top for nighttime, built in radio
wheels that it might be rolled to our work
all the basic conveniences at a depth of 30 inches
what arrived met those specifications
in that our beloved work puppy

surrounded on all sides by mirrors
including the sequined comfort pillow
radio jammed between old gospel stations
muttering to itself non-stop
speaking the old names, calling the old names
reflected into infinity, an endless patience
