The Gummy Downs

ah yes, the gummy downs, I remember these
how that naff little recitative goes ��
if you can ��t handle me at my worst
you don ��t deserve me at my best
oh, honey, that all depends on what your worst is
whether it breaches consent, whether it needs
you know �� handled
there ��s programming for that, management
how if there ��s a known condition of waking up armed
or night terrors, or a thousand other happenstance things
well, we wake from afar
do not touch while dreaming
basic courtesy survival things
where the key is knowing, deciding
whether or not one ��s up for this particular difference
and whether the risk �� because humans are bloody risk
is worth it
there is no deserving or not deserving
there ��s only �� hey, I knowingly sign on for this
not these, and we can �� or cannot
work within these conditions
doesn ��t matter if it ��s loved and a shared bed
or hiking a buddy off into the distance
if we set out unknowing
or not sharing known conditions
that ��s not signing on
and woe betide the resolution
where the gummy downs are burst pillows
and twelve pounds in twelve flavors
of sweet little bears
we weren ��t expecting
