That Almost Steady Sound

the moon ��s at eleven percent up from new
while outside, the first stages of blizzard progress
a nearly steady thumping, as heavy snow from a roof
or a pile driver heard just a bit in the distance
under that surreal shifting brightness
as though three full moons hide
just behind light clouds
snow coming down
rural wilderness taking a bow
to things we just
don ��t know
