An Order to Fortitude

contemplating coffee shops is a clean bliss of pre-evolution
how there ��s this one server who remembers your order
no matter how long it ��s been, and how the student body
just generally mucking about with someone who ��s clearly eidetic
keeps trying to one up complexity, getting nowhere
same order as last time �� yes
here comes the same order as last time
most excellent flavorful perfection
crisis points go like this, new face, walking in, neutral professional
a polite haven ��t-seen-you-before what can I get you
lay down a twenty with a note �� tip, and next to that, another
with its own twenty, both notes bright yellow, both clearly printed
random, please
sometimes the drink is good, others, nigh unspeakable
cranberry juice sour cream quad shot with a donut
a water pitcher of decaf and a fork with a pat of butter
each time, order note flipped over, labeled with price
same system as last time �� yes
in glorious silence and wondering
and reader, now �� each morning a note on the fridge
whoever gets up first, flawless kitchen neatly composed
glorious incongruities explored in imprecision
blue painter ��s tape squared off in the special counter space
for whoever ��s up next �� to contain that special something
or admittedly, sometimes the cat
same system as last time �� yes
who occasionally clears the spot for naps
