Human Studies

today, my grade in human studies was posted on the board
placing me at the very bottom of the class, though still passing
with a note attached that there was no other choice, despite reservations
which is probably fair given the amount of effort I devoted
naming fast food joints in various stations across the galaxy
for things humans might eat in an emergency
returning a paper on human politics in haiku form
composed entirely of swearing and the world politics

but, I mean, seriously, if we were a species more generally self-aware
the guidebooks wouldn ��t have entire sections on how not to die
by our food, our rage, our casual disregard for public safety regulations
and our utterly mad tendency to address classes and engineering
with the same casual disregard for seventeen failsafes and culture shock
thus I wear this registration as both example and badge of pride
fellow classmates, my species invites you to start running at the earliest opportunity
so as to attain minimum safe distance for participation in fun
