Trader ��s Garden

some nights, the dark gods of forest and pond
mislay their tempests and visit the garden outside my kitchen
trading shy glances and partaking of that portion
saved from whatever I ��ve baked or brewed
a shared meal in times both lean and golden
sometimes, when the pain is high
nearest star driving iron nails under skin
then too they drop by, and chuckling
for a few moments unscrew the sun
setting it aside that I might repose, however briefly
against their softest skin
