Kiln Blooded

priests found my wounded trails first
dressed me in saffron robes, washed me in scented water
claimed my grasp beloved of the gods
in small hours, my hands were font
then fountain, temple collecting that precious flow
ripples and bulges beneath skin let go
hungry and seeping, shaking hills lifted me
mountain ��s maw spewing fast fire, then ash, then mud
hot beyond dreaming giants
waking in a pool of myself, temple razed
slick raised lines to the elbows, bowl shifting solid
all that remained was walking empty
slow month of hunger in fists of mouth
dipped starved into ash, lifted sated to my brow
robes forever clean, face forever marred
later, villages would call it stigmatograph, and run
thin lines through palms leaking entire worlds in golden liquid
ripples in the ebb and flow like breathing
beloved of old pressures, plate upon plate
desolate cries of lonely wyrms writhing in surface texture
come beloved, closer, our hearth is yours
