when Crow showed up at my window, neither the cats nor I were ready
fur everywhere, puffy ceiling cat nigh instantly, and a sad bonk-thud without
but recovery, long as deathless moments, just means opening the window
laying in a shelf for next time, sharing a shiny
some cat food, some people food
next week, black-spot eyes reflecting cat, Crow looks me over deadpan
steps back, flaps, whacks into the other half of the window, pops over backwards
and on getting outside, I see them standing, eyeing the window
noticing me
flopping onto their back
cackling like a lunatic
a shiny in their beak
and stilled to silence
cats in the window, wide eyed, deciding whether I ��m sane enough to come back in
and y ��know, take a shiny from my pocket, hold it twixt my lips, lie next to crow
because clearly they ��re on to something, even if this is the point at which the cats decide
warm sun, warm shelf
suit yourself, we ��re having a nap
grab some catnip
on return
