visiting the animal shelter was the sort of treat one equated with ice cream
sweet, temporary, and loaded with possibilities, that if this flavor came out all right
one might bring it home and test it further, giving one ��s word to equitable treatment
not returning one ��s love unless they continued to desecrate the carpets
settling into conjoined objectives, daily food, water, heat, and leisure
in the stacks of one ��s parent ��s magazines were letters to the editor
differentiating between common struggles and external ones, a valuation
somehow equating carpet shitting to phonetic differences, eye motion
failures of what one ��s brought home to greet at the door with tea and a smoke
roast fresh from the pot, a spot of sherry, and what adults got up to
beyond those strange allegiances, to the back, tracks of the greater outdoor shelters
promising breed and pride by mail order, anyone ��s genocide set aside
outlaid adoption fee, and one might become one ��s parents on purpose
even if care, and heat, and leisure weren ��t stated �� they must be implied
that one might into one ��s abode by mail attain somehow one ��s own
but never, despite diligent search, a form one might fill
that into a sack I might spill, and sequester myself somehow overseas
