Transmission Slumber

my modern digital watch tells me I am hearty and hale
with a pulse rate what you ��d expect from a distance runner, even years later
it keeps my VO2 max for me comfortably these days, under the radar
even if my max is tracking digital monsters from place to place
occasionally wrecking my hands dragging them down
and it monitors my sleep
hunt enough of the bad, and your sleep either normalizes
or you get proper wrecked, a fatal condition for those still hunting
a watch that keeps the dreams tracked, and the deeper sleeps, money well spent
even if I begin to suspect the wee thing ��s started drinking
claiming less sleep every night, and dreams to rust
all down to nothing
or maybe the confusion ��s one of interpretation
walkabout taken in step count, gps, and commercial motivation
in case there might be analysis of betterment by kale sales to be had
spirulina and protein powder mixing with a battery of vit
noting fear spikes as pulse points, and the B12 divot
consumer tracking, consumer modification
best never to fully trust the device that shares your life
claiming your sleep has coagulated, gained a sticky sort of twist
when year on year the dreamroads are more home than harvest ��s barn
whatever a modern device insists is 90 minutes of sleep
in thirty minute bursts, dreamless
collected ten-thousand hour perfections
my modern digital watch informs me of sleep-fail
as though at 0300 I ��d somehow misgauged the when of things
or set aside rest in favor of some other grind, long forgotten in the wings
awaiting survival states where sprinting and hard recovery
spin the wheels not of salvation, but of hill drills
years of that endless wave
weaving in sleep another �� not perfection, but facsimile thereof
that hitting wakestate either swiftly wanders, or hits switch-click and sticks
that you touch what you fire upon, relentless in vision, swarming routes �� indecision
with simply having known, nigh on until remembrance
sleepy-time illusion, loves �� abstruse melody
blood deep, that endless salvage
neither mechanically nor digitally
shared, transposed, reformed
hearty and hale
