Eat A Bag Of Dicks

cleaning, having come in from a night of not dying somehow again
trading those unfortunate human scents and dirt for more fortunate ones
mud mask, because frankly I deserve nice things, even after all the yelling
trying to sort a path for both mask and that first cheeseburger
in the same articulated motions, a devotional upbringing
leading at least to ambidextrous tool handling, a proper sort of not quite thud
not quite slorsh into bath ��s warm grasp, contemplating toes as cleaning goes
more or less necking the second sandwich pelican-style
startled by the world ��s smallest calico, somehow bypassing security
cataloged internally as that cat what ��s been living on scraps, maybe
didn ��t I see them a block over on the gravel roof, hanging loose
eyeing my Dicks as I shouldered the duffel �� maybe catching a whiff
and now, hands full, observe �� laser focus eye-twitch, whiskers forward
half puffed stretch, a slink, a reach, extracting one of the good ones
extra pickles, double mayo, bacon, and double cheese
eying my paused ablutions with suspicion, dragging their prize
step by cautious step into the space under the sink
from whence come the sounds of vigorous exhausting murder
where myom nyom gworl my-omomom only vaguely approaches
the sort of onomatopoeia one might desire in a lost childhood ��s slumber
contract complete unobserved, finally clean, unmasked
sounds of Brahms filtering gently under growl-chewing
pull the bag on the tub table, growl my own way through fourteen delights
insight gained �� these wonders are even better when aerated
later night, a hundred kilos of litter in a pair of duffels
turns out to be significantly easier to haul than dead weight
and a cat box up a fire escape doesn ��t stand out if you ��ve sprayed it black
two more bags of Dicks, fresh, and I ��ve no idea what I ��m doing
but alone definitely wasn ��t better than this, comfortable shift
and kit, finally, finally, kit
