sometimes the poem is happenstance
a quote one discovers, a feeling of utterly alien
that these are not my people
and that they ��re selling a patchwork trap

where the options are police procedural
either evidence collection, or preparation for crime
whether we ��re inviting predators in

a white noise
and I ��m in that damn trunk again
next to the tarp, shovel, those big zip ties
you use to keep antennas up on rooftops
storm after storm, saved by my small hands
by breaking skin, measure by measure
silent, because a cautious predator
is probably armed
probably listening

where someone might
