Planning Ahead

nearly every government has a plan for this
the systematic and somehow theoretically logical plan for what will take place
when contact comes
item one is usually something about not panicking the civilians
item two is generally something about how the plans are top secret
or special secret, or some further something about how
under no circumstances whatsoever
should the general population become informed before those in charge
somehow remediate the problem
or fight it, or lock down trade negotiations so only they benefit
because again, under no circumstances whatsoever
should a civilian become aware that they might not be alone
that there might be company
it should probably be added as an addendum somewhere
in at least one of these plans
that the reason the planners haven ��t noticed contact yet
is that hiding things from one another and playing power games
with information, with lives, with even the most basics
of food and shelter, hearth and home
ensure that while individuals are often quite nifty
and good for a chat by the fire
the planet as a whole has that panic built right in
all set to control distribution and as convenient
kill everything that might even vaguely possibly have gotten in on a secret
