when four yards down-trench pulling feature fill
an old academic spoke to those who ��d burned, whose fragments
marked and loaded, were sifted back at the col
re-marked, and divided into category of position
by map, by depth
and his words linger in my ear
how before our project is finished here
we will have sniffed and tasted forgotten things
created of them a stew-pond, deconstructed an age ��s lamination
processed a thousand thousand memories
without engaging
come away claiming fall of an empire ��s evils
smug in constant prattle that good always wins
how observable facts clearly predate each fate
thumb upon the scale
lamenting lamentation
venerating each individual portion of potentially pleasant allegory
how if you snapshot anything just right, light it golden
delight in its intimately projected details
move �� move �� move �� and stop
you can publish grant-suck and make truck with your fellows
where mill grinds on, banal and pernicious, because common human
leans into common human
and turns
no scale but lime over time
not one thumb, but a thousand
grinding down
