we have a polite fiction put in place, where one would lay a curse
to counter invitation and habituation both, call it civilized, free of disease
neither acid nor sad, a mixed social compromise struck to station
implication wound counter to coil, where fingers would otherwise linger
that one might say necking in place of ligature, to place a kiss towards crownless sincerity
that one might say nicking in place of being done to, left charitably divided against one ��s own interests
undertone to the saying a chord of strummed wings, that we are vile and we vilify
that our leathers and our patterns choke down direction, tendons taut from birth
our worth recused in all but word, a gesture of hummingbird peace
as though to release iridescence were not to spit siege, rainbow in the afterglow
to claim liege and comfort, to soft entice, to claim strict vice in language
rapid in the beating heart, vapid fragmentary starts, a dedicated chart
to speak
how nice
and mean
how fucky
