Graveyard

what I took for a city was a graveyard
perspective a question of distance and angle
close grown manicured trees mistaken for larger
offerings for decorations, incense for greater smoke
chimneys stone, but solid, wisps of grey lacquering their sides
doors of pictures, faces, memories, step inside
know this one here, a tailor, suits always sharp pressed
clients always poor �� but well dressed, a pauper
well fed, well led, but lowest rent �� and polish reflects
block upon block upon block, passion with a mute on
season gone to grasses, offerings to insects
perspective, at last, to passes
we made a city for our dead, well sped and well spent
and I could breathe here eventually
