I just had to dream, you know?
keeping migraine at bay, flickering in between dream's stain
and wake's cold pipes, that someone I'd respect stole dreams away
left wicker thin piecemeal refrain, human remains
only almost human, wax rebuilding face, holes puttied thus
place scooped dimple upon dimple
humor in waxwork, whole house sticky-warm
that the copse might drip, one beach through another
oak tangle, ashen mangled, stippled thus to thorn
determined and bound to burdensome task
where will, o sweet will, whips her flanks
carrion calling unto carrion
one dreamer's strain, the next dreamer's ruin
