Anvil II
June 17, 2004
I have been the anvil in my tired state of mind
death a hammer falling upon the tool between
and the anvil wears its patient shape in quiet
for every strike defines its make a little further changed
and I know I'm modified, older, rearranged
but the mercy of the hammer leaves no ruin it its wake
foundry sparks and shifting lights, but of the smith no shade
just a memory of breathing, bearing up against the rain
and I have no fear of death, been walking there for years
no hurry in creating, nor in wear upon the bones
faith returned for process and the ringing of my form
made ever from the uplift that entropic is cut down
and done, perhaps the faithful have it true
or infinity just holds us - or we fail in the hold
a thousand times a thousand and derivation of the one
still the anvil leaves its mark upon the tool
