One Tree Dream
August 3, 2002
in the night I dream of you, and in the day I dream
and in the day the dream is hard, for sometimes I see through
and in the dream I am with you, and with you I would be
and sleeping I would spend with you, were that not fantasy
of the dream, this I know true, my heart, my love is there
and waking tears me away from you, washes me with tears
and waking I will drive for you, beyond the farthest shore
and find the one tree waiting there, and with you rest most pure
ah the one tree it calls softly now, a breath upon my brow
and with you I would eternity, spend beneath its boughs
and waiting I loose you every day, waking new to silence
and would that you could dream me too, and we could bend one tree's compliance
