in that desperate shadow he cried
take these memories from me
clear off this weight - this sinning
these memories - make me what I am
fill me up with recollection
bigger than my world
but I do not like what I am
nor wish to become anymore
in this desperate shadow
how I regret
as if remembering were not enough
that the memories are of nothing more
than passing time
spinning gears
like a greasework machination
make me - memorize
that I might become no more
than solace
that I might never become more
than causing one more harm
spinning - memorize
these facts define
but I want his cries - to be mine
for his is despair of honored emotion
and mine is hollow
memorized
how I regret
as if remembering were not enough
these things I am - realizing
how I regret
in that desperate shadow his cries
stretch fingers through my cold
and 'er I turn to fade - remember
killing time is observation
how time died
leavening like ashes
these memories I bled
remembering at last
that I'm using the same words
again -- from memory
that I might remember no more
