curious you call it
brushing back your clinical gaze
I don't believe I've seen a cross like yours
since the boys steamed back to town
one of them had eaten children's bones
and named himself Emmanuelle
doctor, nothing's wrong in me
'cepting maybe methadrine
we all tote our cross's share
'claved clean and cure and shined
parody you call it
no monk was level sane
I don't believe you'll follow
just another stash of journal notes
matched symptoms to preconfigured 'ceptions
drawn down to words of Freud like god
but we pagans too were firm believers
eradicated by the wayside
curious you call it
brush back your hair and rub the smoke's burr from your eyes
can't say I understand it, clearly still you're safer here
I've a feeling your cross best cast no shadow
reasons or goal's gods safe inside
curiosity you called it
but my reasons claimed no god
in these days when monks are maddest
shift isolation self imposed
curiosity you called it - sure
a study in uncomprehending
but I'd make the weakest prophet and a patient poorer still
boring to the professionally excited detachment
those who eat nothing of fire - and rage no more
into the kiln
