Oblivion

terminal, his shadow -
how despite sun's razor casting
clinging like wax to tortured earth
it creeps on -
masking one outline, abstract
corrugations in dried river mingling together
one behind another, water forgotten, dirt liquid seeming still -
tramp -
plumes of lightless motion,
tramp-
he moves on, obfusing initially, crossed space
with light seconds lost, regained
new formed, sane etched copies
negative each ripple and fused grain of sand
tracking path of silver and foot, made same
sharing the blister dried, like skin
a riverbed of made empty, soon killed
while the black cast sharpens -
wrenched path along the dry-way
cut glistening into ground
renewed, unending, dead
his shadow, sinking crost ripples
tramp -
one foot down, the other
but none after
hardpan, terminal
his shadow
