Rhythm, Lad, Rhythm
October 27, 1995
sweating lad with wild eyes dances
whirling gaze focusing more than two places
grasping tight rods in hands streaked
black muscles standing out point lighted
devil stick planting rhythm basking vent
frustration anoint double single triple
spin center still as ends whip round
catches, stabilizes t'other end dancing
direction of his direction, stick a fascination
illusion of understanding reality's fabric
taffeta distraction gathering rotation ironwood
end swings round grazing lightly once before
striking temple to the ground he's driven
rhythm half paced drop and rattle of stone
and skin on stone like papers calling death's mask
he falls, his rhythm winds
down
grins, ruing nothing, stands
taps twice and brushes swelling temple - out, not in
taps twice and pats the ground, illusory
back like stitches, up and flowing
stick's bobbin and witching pattern
stream and streamer catching polish
smooth like heroin, he dances
wild eyes finally sane
master again
