Conveyor Belting

watertight the seals upon the boxes
read the small signs across their sides
black matting decorated this side up - and more
they said so - convulsing before the long trip home
banners folded triangularly across their breasts
shoulder to hip for those still whole enough to bend
stiff hands at sides inflexible
men at arms attending men at arms
parade rest for them, back and front again
