Aftershocks
September 2, 1995
the tapestry was rent
right down the middle
where mother stood sternly
fringes scored with carbon
she hardly complained
fire was kindly with her
as her form burned to the edges
eclipse outline
what's left still hangs
covering stone that's colder
than she was I think
peeking through her boarders
my mother is a rock wall
quiet, uncomplaining
she stands where once she stood
