their ripples were smaller than I expected
as each stroke touched, then deepened in the gloom
mist upon the water cloaking sound, extinguishing
lightly they touched, circles following upon laws of circles
blending one into another like mists falsifying exclusion
this and no else, spilling ripples upon the water, trails
touching upon the shore's line where I stood - wavering out
into grey worlds I could almost perceive, quietly
trying to scream hello into the deepening water they passed
echos, like ripples, smaller than I expected, not there
I stretched forth with voice, hearing only myself, grey forms
moving away into nothing, leaving only ripples to love
the shore - my ponderance upon glass, one clean sine
breaking into rocks' patterns, chaos raking over
ripples to nothing, I stared upon, forms melting backwards
leaving only ripples, then only memories of themselves
spreading - ever regressing, having once reached me
then only clean moist grey where once they were
