Toki Pona

Someone on station mentioned a Language called Toki Pona (in the comments, at that). I checked the Wikipedia page and the more I thought about it, the more I liked the sound of it. Only 136 words, using a subset of the English alphabet, with similar sounds, the exception being j which is pronounced as the IPA pronunciation and the vowels are all pronounced as in Japanese. All the letters chosen are those that are a subset of IPA and English.

The language and description are so short they can fit on a single piece of paper. Speaking of, someone made a cheat sheet that does exactly that. They put grammar on the front and vocabulary on the back:

After reading about it on Wikipedia I watched some videos on YouTube. There was supposed to be a 12 part series but the playlist only had 4 videos.

The following day, I found the aforementioned cheat sheet. I don’t really have anything to add, that cheat sheet is amazing. I’ll be studying it in the days to come.

Native English speakers tend to not speak it in a fashion I would equate with the descriptions of how its supposed to sound. Also, it seems the stress should be on the first syllable of each word, which is going to be a little weird for me, but overall totally doable.
