The quality of early VGA RAMDACs is quite diverse. This cheap TVGA9000B came with a UMC branded 66MHz RAMDAC. It was very noisy and produced massive jailbars.

I replaced it with an Analog Devices RAMDAC I had left over from an ET4000 Upgrade where I used an INMOS RAMDAC. So the quality is INMOS > AD > UMC. I need more INMOS RAMDACs!

I have decided to do one final run of the original version of the WME64 wireless modem emulator for the Commodore 64, 128, and VIC-20. It will be a batch order with about a two week or so lead time because I need to order the parts, so if you are interested, here is a good place to let me know. Each one is $40USD plus whatever shipping costs to your address, comes in a 3D printed case with colour label, and is compatible with any program that can use a user port modem, at 300-9600 baud.

Getting your order in now will get you your modem first, before it goes up for sale on Tindie or anywhere else.

NOTE: This run is 50 units, 19 of which are currently spoken for.

Urban Putt Denver is, sadly, closing its doors. However, there is an opportunity to rescue a one-of-a-kind stand up arcade game/mini golf "hole" before it ends up in the scrap heap.

Bunker Blast 3000 was designed to resemble a retro 1980s arcade game. As a mini-golf hole, the game is played by putting into a ramp underneath the "arcade" display. Sensors inside the game read the ball's velocity and angle, and the game renders a virtual ball on the screen, rolling through a "game grid" like environment reminiscent of Tron. The game then kicks the ball out for subsequent putt attempts.

The unit is 36 inches wide and roughly 5 to 6 feet tall. It features a color display and custom software that exists as a one-of-a-kind homage to classic arcade games, enclosed in an arcade-style wooden cabinet with custom artwork, and a backlit front display. It is GLORIOUS.

Here's the deal though: This unit needs to be moved THIS SUNDAY, June 11th, when the dismantling of Urban Putt Denver will be going on.

If you know someone who wants, or you yourself want, a collectible and irreplaceable, fully functional and FUN AS HELL objet-d'art for your living room, barcade, or museum, my friend, Urban Putt CEO Steve Fox, will GIVE YOU the item at no charge, if you can bring enough people and a vehicle large enough to carry it away.

DM me for serious inquiries, only. No, it's too heavy to ship out of Colorado unless you're going to put it in your own box truck and carry it yourself.

Please repost widely. Thank you!

Big milestone with my Xerox 820s! I have a second one up and running, at least after a fashion.

One of the floppies had a reverse engineered copy of the base firmware. This "monitor program" is not very full featured, because everyone was expected to just boot CP/M from disk, and to use the CRT & keyboard for basic I/O.

But I have just 1 keyboard, monitor, and disk enclosure; but a total of 5 Xerox 820 PCBs!

So I've modified the firmware so that the console input & output devices are the 2nd RS232 port. And .. it booted first try!

It helped that it was possible to test the "monitor program" without burning each iteration to an EEPROM, because the ROM code begins by copying itself to RAM; this means that it's feasible to just update the in-RAM copy when developing it.

OTOH I'd never built an EEPROM programmer either...

I want to further enhance the monitor to allow it to load ihex files over serial, since I don't have a plan for adding disk storage. Wish me luck!

oh and get rid of the useless "typewriter" program 🤣

Following the helpful instructions ( [https://biosrhythm.com/?p=2688] (https://biosrhythm.com/?p=2688) ) and copy of the Mini vMac emulator provided by [@paulrickards] (https://mastodon.social/@paulrickards) I've now got a [#MacOS] (https://infosec.exchange/tags/MacOS) [#emulator] (https://infosec.exchange/tags/emulator) running on my Pocket CHiP computer.

It does seem to be pretty responsive though the screen size is a tiny bit smaller than the standard Mac displays, which can cause problems. Games seem to run fine, applications work as well as they would under [#MinivMac] (https://infosec.exchange/tags/MinivMac) and I just can't get over seeing the "Welcome to Macintosh" on this screen 🥰
