Today I fly to Austin, Texas then drive to a smaller town. I am currently on a 777 over Texas headed to Houston for the second leg of this journey, having already flown from Rock Springs, Wyoming to Denver. I slept thru the first flight since I woke up at 0345 and did not go to bed overly early. The layover in Denver was short and I only had time to get to my connecting gate.
My wife just bought me a Samsung Galaxy S21 phone to replace my aged Samsung A11. A few moments ago I pulled out my wired in ear monitors to enjoy some music during this flight only to find that this phone doesn't have a headphone jack. This is ridiculous. I already resigned myself to no SD card slot, just like in the past I resigned myself to not being able to replace my battery. As usual capitalist entropy gathers as the unidirectional arrow of the perception of what we call time moves. Greed should garner the penalty of death.
I hadn't eaten breakfast yet this morning so I just consumed a Takeoff Snackbox (United Airlines best snackbox IMHO) - gouda and white cheddar cheese spreads, two types of crackers, salami, a fruit bar (used to be apricots, think this was a cost cutting measure), and a toblerone. There are also almonds in this box, but I never eat them. Along with the snackbox I also had my go to flight drink - a black coffee and Bailey's Irish Creme. I was dozing in and out prior to this, but I am now peppy.
Landed in Houston and had to run from the E concourse to the C concourse, pausing to buy a USB C to headphone adaptor. Now I sit on this Airbus A319 waiting to take off to Austin. At least now I have music.
Just touched down in Austin...
Rented a Jeep Compass and hit the road to Gonzales, Texas. This 1 hour trip wasn't very eventful. Good news is that my hotel is very close to a Whataburger. Always something I hit up when in Texas (or New Mexico, Oklahoma, Alabama, or Florida).
