Setting Boundaries and being intentional

Published: April 18, 2022

Never assume that the person you're with no matter how much they love and care about you cares about your time as much as you do. I promise you that even people that care about you will inadvertently waste a decade of your life if you let them because people do what's comfortable for them not what's right for you. - Matthew Hussey

I've already broken the promise to myself to write and post at least once per week just has I have so many times before over the years because I didn't hold to my boundaries when it comes to my personal time. Those closest to me don't get told no often enough which means I don't get the personal time that I should and tell myself that I need. Setting healthy boundaries is absolutely required to maintain mental health and focus as well as general overall health. Intention and discipline are also equally needed, it allows to follow the passions we know are ours and helps to fullfil our ikagai. I also haven't held myself accountable to distractions that take away my focus even if the intention is good. This includes binging on what little social media I consume in the form of motivational quotes on instagram.

There are projects and research that I want to accomplish but they require dedicated effort and focus. If I don't prioritize the time then I'll only have myself to blame when I inevitability end up not completing accomplishments. I'm realizing that I can't become the best version of myself that I can be without 100% focus and no outside distractions.

In other news I've joined Reddit officially after swearing I wouldn't because there a number of things I disagree with when it comes to user privacy, but alas I want to connect better with the gemini community thus conceding my rejection to having a reddit account.
