T-Rex β€” While I'm not thrilled with how some of the finer details turned out, I'm happy with the overall scale and the 3d effect. [preformatted] We need more ASCII dinos! Rowland Crawford made a couple of interesting ones: [preformatted] [preformatted] (This one is supposed to be kicking its foot towards the camera but its hard to make out with my font.) Yikes! I lost access to the game account for a couple of days, but luckily it's been running autonomously for the last couple of days without issues. Your suggestions had been incorporated into the dictionary, thanks to all players who sent in .messages. All is well.

Bubble v3.0: Thanks and Reactions, Private Mode, Improved Issue Trackers β€” I have updated geminispace.org to Bubble v3.0. There has been lots of progress in many different areas. Feedback Mechanisms A key function of Bubble is to enable rich interactions that go beyond basic commenting. While feedback mechanisms such as Likes can be a nice way to show support and encouragement, they also have negative aspects: they encourage gamification and may turn posting into a popularity contest....

clanmorgan.org -> circadian.gemlog.org β€” Hi everyone! I have moved my capsule, here: [gemini link] The certificate for clanmorgan.org now shows as having the wrong domain as a result--sorry about that. Please let me know if you notice anything else that I broke. Thanks!

Almost time for Bubble v3. This week's update will be wide-ranging and has a couple of new feedback mechanisms in addition to the plain old Likes. But importantly, the style of feedback will be customizable in the site config and user settings. I will update the capsule to v3 sometime tomorrow. A little teaser: πŸ™πŸ”₯πŸ›‚

Botond's Gemini capsule β€” Visualized Statistics on Geminispace, from data collected by StΓ©phane Bortzmeyer's crawlers. Very informative to see how Gemini has evolved over time. Botond's capsule also has a section about generative art that you shouldn't miss.

πŸŒ’ s/Lagrange

β€” v1.16.2 on git.skyjake.fi

Released a new patch to address problems with URLs in input fields. `InputWidget` continues to be an extremely complex widget to deal with, so changes having unintended side effects is not surprising. Thankfully I managed to iron out one unnecessary complexity: URL shortening now occurs only as a visual trick if the field is narrow, without actually modifying the contents of the field.

β€” Here are the release notes for 1.1.0

Rosy Crow 1.1.1 Released (Maintenance) β€” Version 1.1.1 is a maintenance release intended to fix a couple of issues with 1.1.0; it includes the following changes: I modified the color of links while using the Black theme to make them more readable. I fixed an issue that was causing settings to overwrite each other. Settings (including the last-visited-page and current active identity) will persist after...

THE GEMINI PROTOCOL SEEN BY THIS HTTP CLIENT PERSON β€” This is a very interesting blog post by curl maintainer Daniel Stenberg. The suggestions he has for the Gemini protocol are summarized below: * 1. Split the spec into three separate ones: protocol, URL syntax, media type. Expand the protocol parts with more exact syntax descriptions and examples to supplement the English. * 2. Clarify the client certificate use to be origin based, not host name. *

β€” szczezuja: From my bubble about Bubble

About the Domain "Geminispace.org" β€” I have encountered a few complaints that the domain name of this site, Geminispace.org, is problematic because it can be somewhat ambiguous and misleading: it may be unclear whether one means just this capsule or Geminispace as a whole β€” a collection of Gemini capsules and the people who maintain them. One might react to this...

Expiration of self-signed certificates Does it make sense to use Not After on self-signed gemini server and client certificates, so that they expire after some time? I long ago came to the conclusion that it doesn't make sense, but it still seems to be standard practice, so I'm worried that I may have missed something. Have I? Certainly you shouldn't expect a self-signed certificate to be usable forever -- the private key might be compromised one day, and anyway the underlying encryption will

hobby coder here with a question. When implementing client authentication, do we just store the tls client hash? If so how is this not able to be spoofed? I'm guessing there is some public key authentication going on in the background. looking at the spec and some searches only helped a little.

πŸŒ’ s/misfin

I was working on the Tofu verifier for my misfin library and it struck me how much more work it is from a developer standpoint than it would be to just use CA signed certificates. I know it's easier for the end user to set up a server without getting certificates, but with LetsEncrypt and Acme it's not really all that much work. I thought much the same when working with the Gemini spec a while back. In fact, I found a lot of projects when looking for examples where they were just using a dummy
