Date : Dec 10, 2019 Beer : Over the Moon Source : Guinness Open Gate Brewery Style : Milk Stout City : Baltimore, MD ABV : 5.3%
"Luxuriously smooth and sweet with creamy notes of chocolate and coffee. Made at our Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore, MD where we combine 250+ years of brewing experience in Ireland with American beer creativity."
So Guinness is venturing into craft the beer market. I can understand why, there are so many new varieties of beer popping that I imagine it's becoming harder and harder for an old-school imported beer to compete for shelf space. I'll drink a glass on Guinness on St. Patties day, but that's about it. I don't see it as popular among younger crowds.
Disappointingly, this beer tastes pretty much like a typical Guinness for me. It has that signature burnt barley smell. The color is dark brown, almost black. The flavor tastes watered down, perhaps a bit less than standard Guinness, but it's still far too watered down for my preference. I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I know exactly what qualifies as a milk stout. But this doesn't taste like any milk stout I've have before.
No.
One can is enough.
