just started exploring gemini. Interesting stuff. Makes me wonder how the future will look for this software. it's great to takes steps to a less bloated web, but what is it without adoption. The problem of adoption is made worse by lack of interoperability with commonly used browsers.

This is a question I think about fairly often. Currently a large portion of Geminispace can only work the way it does because of the rather small number of active users. As an example, if Station or the Midnight had as many users as clearnet social media they would never be able to operate properly with a single global feed.

Not that I don't want Gemini to succeed, but things will change with more concurrent users and that's something worth thinking about when we talk about potential mass adoption. · 7 months ago

Guess sometimes it is a cleaner cut to start anew (regarding both underlying technology and user interfaces), including <>browser/client software. I like the idea of knowing that all the gemini capsules I visit are free of this web bloat. Though of course you might not find this simple web without actively looking for it. · 7 months ago
