I have to work with a mac at work and it's very confusing.

Does anyone here use a mac at home? and if yes what made you choose that os

I use Mac OS X since 2001 - i also was a BeOS user before macOS. The stable UI/UX (at it's peak with 10.7 imho), the Unix below it and the good integrated hardware are the reason i use it. Linux works better on mobile phones and gadgets for me like the Steam Deck, DevTerm, Librem 5 or Sailfish OS... and of course on my servers and SBCs ;) For workstation usage macOS has the better applications and works more flawless for me. · 8 months ago

using mac for long time - was because cli easily available and similar to Linux, desktop toys if i need them, all well integrated with hardware - i still consider myself displaced BeOS person:-) · 8 months ago

I use a mac! I used to use Linux primarily, but I got stuck in the apple orchard lol. I chose macOS because it has good integration between applications, i.e. I can drag and drop stuff everywhere and still use the UNIX command line.

Also it looks really nice. Coming from Windows and Ubuntu MATE, it took me a little bit to get used to the menu bar and dock, but once I installed an app-switcher called 'Macarte' it got a lot easier. · 8 months ago

I typically choose to have a mac from work since the choice is either Mac or Windows. When I left my last job, they let me keep my mac (it was too old for them to use it for anything) so I installed Ubuntu on it. It is now about 8 years old and the battery has swollen so much that I have to use an external keyboard. My other mac is my work computer which is running OSX. I have installed brew on it so I can use most of the commands, I am familiar with from the Linux command line. · 8 months ago
