Any tips for forcing yourself to relax? I've been dealing with a hellish amount of anxiety-caused head pressure, tension, dizziness etc. It tends to go away when I actually relax but that is very seldom. Any advice?

I know what you mean, I had to drive half an hour every time to train back to my glorious days... Keep trying looking for a gym, and sometimes if you find people interested in this sport then gyms are going to find a trainer for you.
For instance to open my course, always back to time, I had to find 5 people willing to train in my little town, eventually they dropped to four, and were all from other the nearest town...
But we keep the course cause them started to train also in the facility... · 7 months ago
What works for you will be specific. Finding out what that is is very important though. A few years back, I pushed too hard and stressed myself into the ER. I hope you figure it out before anything like that happens. Part of the solution for me has been to communicate very clearly to the people who rely on me that I have to be allowed to step into a less critical role from time to time as needed. And of course, listening to what my body is telling me. · 7 months ago
Breathe through left nostril to activate relaxation via parasympathetic nervous system. See link below for more details.

I can personally recommend a podcast named Meditation Minis by Chel Hamilton. Chel is a professional hypnotherapist and each episode typically runs 8-15 minutes and covers a short guided exercise designed to help you relax and refocus. Sometimes when I'm having trouble relaxing I'll scroll through the list and simply find one that sounds useful to me in that moment. · 7 months ago

@freezr I keep meaning to get into boxing but I can't find a boxing club near me. · 7 months ago
It depends how much spare time and money you have available, but I found that fighting sports help to gain self-confidence and alleviate anxiety.
it doesn't matter the age, you begin and you stick with your training. Keep in mind I said "Fighting Sports" not "Martial Arts", you need physical contact and fight against the natural way to avoid pain.
My recommendations in order:
1. Boxing (and sparring)
2. Thai boxing or Kick Boxing (and sparring)
3. Brazilian JuJitsu (and wrestling)
4. MMA (and sparring)
5. Judo (and wrestling) · 7 months ago
