(I forgot yesterdayā€™s entry)

6 am šŸŒ…

Mi ree plendas pri nia gvidanto šŸ˜¤

Finally we are on the way back al L'Usono! Iā€™m so happy to be so close to leaving the company of nia gvidanto.

As youā€™ve maybe read before in my previous entries, he has been the worst travel companion you could ask for. Every interaction with him was rude, condescending, and/or abusive. He called my sister a nickname which in Romanian is very common and endearing but does not translate well to English. He commented on how much or how little she ate, and discounted everything she (or I) said.

He is a hypocrite, decrying coronavirus prevention measures (especially masks) as an attempt by ā€œthe governmentā€ to install communism while simultaneously darting around like a lizard, hustling off at breakneck pace if someone clears their throat in the same ZIP code.

He is judgmental and carries himself with a holier-than-thou attitude based on the fact that heā€™s in a cassock. While swooping about in his robes through la ciganaj sektoroj de la ĉefurbo, he wonders why people keep asking him for money.

He is protestant in mindset and unable to think or act without the most intolerable piety that feels like the cheap plastic from China he keeps snarling at.

He calls himself a patriot, yet takes every opportunity to denigrate his native land. He worships a foreign place thatā€™s heā€™s appropriated as part of the American make-it-all-up national culture. Itā€™s ā€œgoodā€ because itā€™s ā€œforeign, conservative, and Moralā„¢ļøā€. Heā€™s got a weird anachronistic sense of how things work, sneering at people who donā€™t fit his idea of how people ought to act.

And so Iā€™m listening to old union songs to keep from listening to his drivel. I like folk music, and the fact that itā€™s politically opposed to nia gvidantoā€™s politics makes it a little bit better.

11am

Ĉe la flughaveno Ā«Karlo de GoloĀ»

Nia gvidanto hurried us through the deplaning, huffing and agitated. We were all a little hungry, so we went over to a cafe not too far from the gate. Nia gvidanto pointed at a table covered with trash from someone elseā€™s lunch and asked us to clear it. My sister and I said something along the lines of ā€œweā€™re going to find somewhere else to eatā€ and walked away. He barely acknowledged us.

Leaving him and the other lady in the dust, we walked all over the terminal looking for food. We went to Starbucks and bought some coffees; I bought a sandwich too.

We walked around for a while and relaxed. It was good to be away from nia gvidanto for a while. The terminal was cool and breezy with comfy chairs, and peoplewatching was fun.

Survoje

The flight back to the States was delayed 30 minutes because of a security request from the United States. I donā€™t mind too much, but I do hope we can make our connections.

While in the air we ate delicious chicken and drank good white wine. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the free ā€˜messaging onlyā€™ WiFi on board allows Gemini access! I guess thereā€™s no http prefix to block and the file sizes are small enough to fit through the tubes. However, because Iā€™m using

gemlog.blue

Iā€™m unable to post any new entries while in the air. Itā€™s still really poggers to be able to browse gopher and Gemini from 30,000 feet!

There are about 5 and a half hours left on the flight. I think Iā€™d be able to snooze if I was in a different class, but the cabin is too bright back here. I had some coffee after dinner, which might be contributing to my inability to snooze. So, Iā€™ll read my book and enjoy the ride. Lord knows Iā€™ve been trying to during the trip.

Capitol Airport

Finally back in these United States! We have 2 flights left until we get home, and weā€™re waiting in the customs line. Nia gvidanto hates bureaucracy, hates the government, and hates the both of them together, so heā€™s very pessimistic about all of this. Soon, weā€™ll be far away from him.

Small Disaster

My sisterā€™s bag got lost and we missed our connecting flights back to the Northern Airport. So, weā€™re staying here a night and going home tomorrow afternoon. Itā€™s inconvenient and aggravating, especially at the end of such an awful time with nia gvidanto, but the hotel is really nice.

My sis is angry, and Iā€™m disappointed by the behavior of our (former) leader.

Later on Iā€™ll do a recap of the positive and beautiful things from the trip.
