Nick Rabbitts, 24 May
LIMERICK councillors have approved plans for the redevelopment of a
former garda station in the city.
Developers have pledged to spend almost €1m to bring Mary Street garda
station back into use as an office complex.
As the building was owned by the local authority up to now, it was the
councillors' role to approve or deny the sale of it to a private body.

In this case, it was the Newenham Street Group, which has promised "a
signature building enhancing the streetscape of Mary Street."
At this month's full council meeting, members were asked to
rubber-stamp a proposal from the council to sell the building for
€100,000, which they duly did.
