Manon Gilbart, 24 May
AN EVENT will aim to break the taboo surrounding menopause and discuss
the range of options available to manage symptoms in Limerick this
week.
As part of The National Menopause Café series, an event with Dr Mary
Ryan and Lorraine Keane will take place at the Bon Secours Hospital
Limerick at Barrington’s on Friday, May 26 at 10.30 am.
Dr Mary Ryan, Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist, has always
dedicated her time to educating Irish women and men about menopause and
the options that are available to manage it. As each menopause
experience is unique, so are the treatment options.
According to her, menopause education should be accessible to all and
balanced in its advice, covering nutrition, lifestyle, exercise,
supplements, pain management and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
options.
To host the Menopause Cafés, she will be joined by Lorraine Keane and
nutritionist Sarah Brereton. The first public figure in Ireland to
break the menopause taboo, Lorraine Keane was the first public figure
to share her experience perimenopause story in 2016, and has continued
her crusade to break the taboo with Dr Ryan on a series of nationwide
‘Let’s Talk Hormone Health’ talks.
