Kildare County Council and Swim Ireland have announced Pop-Up Pool will
be coming to Leixlip from 25th May to October 2023.
The pool, located at Leixlip GAA Club, is 12 meters by 3.4 meters, in a
hard sided marquee and is heated to 30 degrees providing the perfect
environment to learn to swim or enjoy being in the water.
The opportunities that the pool will provide and the benefits it will
have for the local community are far reaching including school swimming
lessons, aquafit classes, autism friendly swim classes, adult swimming
lessons, community groups and private bookings, all at an affordable
price. Organisers are currently engaging with schools and community
groups, with bookings now open for learn to swim.
Sonya Kavanagh, Chief Executive, Kildare County Council said; “We’re
delighted to be working with Swim Ireland to welcome this fantastic
resource to Leixlip. We very much hope the people of Leixlip get to
experience the pool over the coming months whether you’re learning to
swim, joining a class or simply enjoying the experience.”
Swim Ireland CEO Sarah Keane commented “We are delighted to be working
with Kildare County Council to bring the Pop-Up Pool to Leixlip.
Swimming is a life-skill, and one that it is vital for every child. The
Pop-Up Pool is a fantastic opportunity to teach children, and adults,

Leixlip, of all ages and abilities to experience the pool and take
advantage of the opportunities available.”

swimming was the second most popular sport among adults, with 300,000
individuals participating each week. Through our support of Swim
Ireland's pop-up pool initiative, we are delighted to see increased
opportunities for individuals to engage in swimming, particularly in
Leixlip, County Kildare. This initiative will contribute to fostering a
vibrant and active community, promoting the benefits of swimming, and
ensuring that more people can enjoy this wonderful sport." said Chief

Bookings for the pool can be made on the Swim Ireland website Me and
the Water | Swim Ireland. Bookings are now open and there will be
options for Schools, Community Groups, Learn to Swim and Aqua Aerobics,
we anticipate demand to be high so book early to avoid missing out.
The initiative is funded through Local Property Tax funding and as well
as a generous donation from Intel Ireland.
