After the recent successes, our now party of 6 decided to return to the Black Market, in the hopes that by now they would have the means to find some useful gear. Upon arrival, they inspected the goods. All of the weapons and armour were imbued with special traits. They only had enough trilium for 1 item. Hayyel found a nice steel crossbow in a corner of the tent - it was a significant step up from his rusty crossbow. It felt right in his hands, and Urtuk and the rest decided that spending the money on a decent crossbow was be worth it.

Urtuk's mutation progressed during their travels. His health declined, but he obtained fast recovery, meaning an innate ability to heal a part of his own injuries after being hit.

The group approached a cave. They had heard this was a hideout for a group of bandits, led by a mighty chieftain. They hoped to recover some stolen goods and find some items for themselves.

Upon approaching, Urtuk counted 7 scavengers. They hadn't noticed the heroes yet, so they silently got themselves into position. One of the scavengers holding a big maul was standing right next to a pit, not aware of his own risk. Jashave had an idea and hand-signalled to the rest that he would take care of this foe.

Urtuk spotted the chieftain further in the back: a massive mountain of a man, a foot taller than the rest of the enemies, and holding a large, jagged broadsword in one hand.

They assumed a triangular formation, while Jashave snuck up on the guy with the maul and with his shield pushed him into the pit behind him, where only a fading scream was heard as the scavenger was falling down into a deep hole.

The enemies quickly spread out. Two of them were able to hit Gedash, the Javelinier. He was wounded, but still standing.

A frantic battle ensued. Everyone got hit in the chaos. The chieftain rushed forward, dealing out hefty blows left and right. Jashave was able to block a few of them with his shield. He even managed to know another scavenger into another pit. Beryth took probably the worst of the hits and started bleeding. Meanwhile, a scavenger marksman kept shooting bolts in their direction.

A mighty hit from the chieftain hit Beryth once again... Urtuk's heart sank for a moment as he thought Beryth was down. But Beryth pulled himself up and struck back, dealing a mighty and unexpected blow to the chieftain - so hard that the chieftain crumpled under the force of the blow. The remaining scavengers panicked and ran away.

The group found some liquor and a little bit of Trilium. One of the chests contained a nice steel sword - imbued with a charm that would increase its force if the bearer was injured. Urtuk claimed this special weapon for himself.

Pelenne found another charm from one of the fallen enemies. This one would give his maul the ability to bleed enemies, besides stunning them.

The group rested well this evening. Pelenne's injuries from the previous battles were now healed again.

A few more days of travel, they came to an area where they had heard that an alchemist had gotten ambushed. They went looking, and ran into an alchemist with a group of mercenaries beside him. They were fleeing from a horde of monsters.
